Double Barrel Gun Used By Maniram Dewan

A double barrel gun belonging to Maniram Dutta Baruah, popularly known as Maniram Dewan. He was the Prime Minister to the last Ahom King Purandar Singha. He later served as the Dewan of the Assam Tea Company at Nazira after the British East India Company established its administration in the region. Dewan was a pioneering tea planter. He established his own tea garden at Chenimora in Jorhat, thus becoming the first Indian to grow tea commercially. Maniram was hanged for conspiring against the British administration during the uprising of 1857.
